Day Forty-Six

Nothing much to report today. I spent some time putting the puppies on the grooming table hoping when I get someone to take pictures they will at least stand still. They were running around getting into everything today but it tired them out and a tired puppy is a good puppy.

Day Forty-Five

The puppies were wild today. They are starting to really play hard with each other. I am happy that they are hitting the potty patches more and more every night. This morning there was only one accident that didn't make it on the patch. I was so tired this morning that when Tiffin started pawing me to wake up at 5:15 when her breakfast time isn't until 7AM I came downstairs and put her out to potty then in her crate and went back to bed.

I spent part of the day when then the pups were sleeping letting people know when they were ready to go to their new homes. I still have some things to get ready for their going home bags. I'm also trying to figure out when I can get the stacked pictures. It ideally takes three people to accomplish this. I have been trying to get them on the table more, so they know what this is all about.

Unfortunately for Bunny Tiffin left him in the room with the puppies by mistake. He took a beating today, but I rescued him.

Waiting for me to get their dinner ready.

Day Forty-Four

What a crazy day the puppies had. They had a lot of new experiences. The went on their first car ride. They were in the car for an hour and some of them cried and someone threw up. Most of them settled and went to sleep. We took them to the GPDC meeting at Chris's and they met a lot of new people and new dogs. They ran around the kitchen and had a lot of fun exploring all the sights and smells! Then they got their microchips, and they were very brave. Only one let out a little whimper. Jeff is really good at chipping puppies and that is why they did so well with it.

Because I forgot my camera there are no videos today and these pictures were taken by club members and graciously passed them on. They puppies were hired to assist the dishwasher.

They got to meet their grandmother Harlow and some of their other relatives.

They also got to meet Mary who is our favorite puppy socializer!

Day Forty-Three

The puppies will start leaving for their new homes in two weeks and my head is spinning by all the things that has to happen before then. I spent part of today doing paperwork and getting the puppy binders ready for their new families. I prepaid the AKC registrations, and the microchips have prepaid enrollment (thanks Chris). That will save the new owners those additional costs. The puppies are outgrowing the bed they prefer although they have other beds for some reason this is their favorite.
The puppies had visitors today, but Tiffin just knew they came to see her. Haley is one of Tiffin's favorite people and when Tiffin saw her, she gave her a very big smile. And James is her favorite kid. Jonny is the dog whisperer because they all love him.

Shiver now has a home, and I am thrilled. She will be going to live with a family that got a pup from my 2009 litter, so many of today's pictures are of Shiver.

Avalanche thought he could pick this toy up, but he bit off more than he could chew.

They wanted to kill the pig.

Week Six

I can't believe that six weeks have passed by so quickly. It seems like yesterday that I was sleeping beside the whelping box waiting for them to arrive. Shiver has not found her forever home yet so if anyone knows someone who is looking for a sweet pet, she is available. Today a man I have known for a very long time came to see the puppies. He was looking at both Shiver and Polar to decide which one would be his but Polar choose him. She took an immediate liking to him and turned on the charm. I am very happy that Polar will be learning how to be a tracking dog. Phil also has one of Maks' daughters so Polar has big shoes to fill. Below is Shiver.

Here is Shiver looking to see if her people are out there.

Night, night sweet babies.

Day Forty-One

Nothing much to report today. Trying to let people know what puppies are available. I'm surely going to miss them. This has been a fun litter to watch. Maybe because I am retired or maybe because this will most likely be my last litter. This is a job for much younger people.  I have no problem falling asleep at the end of the day. I can't wait for spring so I can get back to training Tiffin. I miss our one-on-one time. Here are a few pictures from today.

Tiffin wants to play with them if only they wouldn't try to nurse.

They love to make the pig oink.

Day Forty

Exciting but not surprising news today. I got the DNA results back from VGL (U.C. Davis) and five of the seven puppies are LUA! The LUA pups are Chill, Tundra, Blizzard, Arctic and Shiver.  Polar and Avalanche are HUA like 99% of all Dalmatians in the world. It doesn't mean they are inferior to the LUA Dals but it does mean their owners need to be mindful of what they eat and having ample hydration and opportunities to urinate. Stones aren't the biggest problem in the breed most Dals live long healthy lives with no issue however it is a very big problem for the Dal that is a stone former. That usually happens when people aren't made aware of how to maintain a Dalmatian.

Linda came to see her grand pups today. They jumped all over her and untied her shoes many, many times. It was a very long drive in blistery cold, but she made the trip and picked her favorite. I have to agree. She picked the one that has had my heart from the beginning. Sweet, sweet Avalanche. Of course, I love them all and my favorite one is the one in my arms at the time.
